Driver Safety Awareness Training
We’re working with Focale Training to deliver the Driver Safety Awareness Card scheme to raise driving standards for drivers of ALL company vehicles.
Why should businesses do it?
Employers have a responsibility under Health and Safety legislation to ensure so far as reasonably practicable the health and safety of their employees and others who may be affected by their work activities. This includes the activity of driving on public roads.
In addition there is a legal requirement for all existing professional drivers of LGVs above 3.5 tonnes (C, C1, C+E or C1+E categories) to undertake 35 hours of approved training 9th September 2014 and by for every five year period. All LGV drivers must complete the required training hours by 9th September 2014 and in every continuous 5 year period to be able to drive large goods vehicles (LGVs) for a living.
How will the Scheme be run?
Focale Training will deliver a core syllabus using high quality teaching materials. Once 7 hours of training is complete, NSAMPS will issue the CPC Card. The card would identify the driver, and list the dates and subjects of training completed. Further courses are available to complete all or part of the remaining 35 hour Driver CPC requirement along with refresher course to maintain compliance.
This course will provide evidence of training for all drivers with 7 hours of Driver CPC Training for those in scope of the requirement.
